GALAXIES

Messier 51 the Whirlpool Nebula in Ursa Major.  Picture Captured on  April 22, 2007 at Robert Moses State Park, NY.  41 stacked Images at 3 minutes each, ISO 1600, prime focus, unguided on 1600mm SCT with Canon 300D.  Images stacked and processed in Images Plus, .cropped and resized in Adobe Photoshop.

NGC 891 An edge on galaxy in the constellation Andromeda.  Image captured on October 26, 2006 in Babylon, NY.

Images 24x5 minutes at ISO 800 at prime focus on a 1600mm SCT.  Guided, raw conversion, dark, flat, bias frames, graded, aligned, averaged, stacked, 3x3 bin, and cropped in Images Plus. 

Messier 33, the Triangulum Galaxy.   Captured on 9/21/2006 at Robert Moses State Park.  This is a combination of 20 images at ISO 800 for 5 minutes each.  Each image was taken with a Digital Rebel on a 1600mm SCT at Prime Focus.  Stacking and processing with Images Plus. Levels and cropping with Photoshop.

 

The Virgo Super Cluster.  This is a collection of galaxies located in the constellation Virgo.  Image taken on March 28, 2006. Canon 300D, Prime Focus on a Stellavue 78mm refractor, 24 images x 5 minutes each,.  Dark, flat, bias subtracted, stacked and processed in Images Plus, 

 

M82 - The Cigar Galaxy, an irregular galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major.  Captured on 1/27/2006 at RMSP.  Seven  5 minute pictures were aligned and stacked with a total integration time of 35 minutes. Flat and Dark subtraction was also used.  Taken at1600mm  prime focus with a Canon 300D, ISO 800.

 

Here is an image of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31).  Also seen are two other galaxies M32 and M110.  This picture was taken on 9/28/05 at RMSP. It is a composite of 20 images at 3 minutes each at 1600 speed.    
M101, The Pinwheel Galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major.
